Since 2004 Apple Pi Consulting has served higher education with PowerFAIDS® financial aid management support services. We are recognized by the College Board as a PowerFAIDS® Specialist and have completed multiple implementations on their behalf.
Apple Pi Consulting believes in PowerFAIDS®. So much so that PowerFAIDS® consulting is all we do. Our world revolves around PowerFAIDS®. And we are fully aware how geeky that makes us look.

Dr. Valerie A. Mockus
President
Valerie A. Mockus began her career in financial aid as a work study at Denison University. Four years later, she accepted her first financial aid administrative position and has been in aid since. After serving at both public and private institutions and earning her MBA at Saint Francis (PA), Valerie accepted a position with the College Board as a consultant. In 2004, Valerie created Apple Pi Consulting. Valerie completed her doctorate with research focusing on the impact of Prior-Prior Year.

Nick Jenkins
PowerFAIDS® Consultant
Nick Jenkins began his career in financial aid in a shared Admission/Financial Aid Counselor position at Lenoir-Rhyne University, where he began using PowerFAIDS®. Four years later, he moved full time into financial aid, eventually working his way up to Director of Financial Aid in 2012. In this role, he worked to automate and optimize the use of PowerFAIDS® in his office, while also serving on the PowerFAIDS® Advisory Board (2014-2018) and presenting at PowerFAIDS® User Conference. Nick joined Apple Pi Consulting in 2018.

Gary Mockus
Software Developer
Gary joined the company full time in 2007 to write software solutions for schools. He has a degree in Forestry/Wildlife Management and another in Computer Programming. He has worked closely with end users and knows how confusing it can be for a non-techie to understand software. His main goal in writing software is to make it user friendly.

Emma Rose
Junior Consultant
Emma Rose joined the company full time in January 2020, specializing in PowerFAIDS® research. She has a degree in Biomedical Sciences and another in Mathematics. Emma has worked to create detailed procedural documentation for clients. She has designed test scripts to test specific function behaviors in multifunction algorithms as well as designed an integration tool mapping Slate® fields to PowerFAIDS® fields. Additionally, Emma has aggregated fines by compliance concern from program reviews conducted by the Department of Education and analyzed the data to better assist clients.

Kelly Skubal
PowerFAIDS® Consultant
Kelly Skubal began her career in financial aid as a workstudy student at Limestone College. Four years later, she accepted her first full-time financial aid position serving as Assistant Director of Financial Aid, and using PowerFAIDS® on a day-to-day basis. Kelly joined the College Board in 2001 to further utilize her PowerFAIDS® expertise. For the next 13 years, her responsibilities included providing PowerFAIDS® Technical Support, assisting new PowerFAIDS® customers with system configuration in order to improve office efficiencies, PowerFAIDS® documenting and training, recommending PowerFAIDS® software improvements and enhancements, and planning the PowerFAIDS® User Conference including designing the schedule with relevant content. Kelly joined Apple Pi Consulting in July 2014.
